I found the assignment quite tough. I seem to be struggling to get to grips with Unreal compared to other people in the class, which as a result makes me work seem even worse. I wanted to try and get a decent looking abondened city. However, my time management and planning didn't go to well and it meant that my level was simply too big for what I had in it. If I re did this assignment now, I would first check key things that I want in the level and see what size they are and plan around that.
My actual scripting didn't go too well. I eventually managed to get a bot to run to a point and fight another Bot. At this point however I had hoped to be able to add in around 4 bots and have them come from differnet directions. However, when I added them in the main character in the trailer wouldn't target them and would simply shoot a wall. After trying to find the problem for a few hours I was running out of time and simply had to delete them from the project, this meant that there was simply alot of time where nothing was happening. I eventually managed to get another Bot into the level, It however doesn't have a script. Jacob fires at the second AI and then is killed when it fights back.
For my next assignement I am going to be sure to plan the level and storyboard it throughly and make sure I have a firm idea in my head rather than trying to stumble through the level design and scripting. I feel the main issue I had with the project was that the errors I did have I simply didn't cover up well enough and it brought the whole project down as a whole.
